Position type: Permanent Part-Time (20 hours)

The Pastor of Worship Arts is responsible for providing spiritual leadership, creative vision and pastoral care to the worship ministry of the church.

 

Qualifications

o A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him including spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, confession, and fellowship o Adherence to the MB Confession of Faith

o Commitment to moral purity o Demonstrated excellence as a worship leader o Formal musical and theological training would be preferred

o Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate and communicate to people at all levels

o Demonstrated strong administration, planning and organizational abilities

o Demonstrated proficiency and/willingness to learn church planning software like Pro Presenter, Planning Centre, and Song Select

o Demonstrated proficiency and/willingness to learn the technical aspects of hosting a modern worship service, including: mechanics of stage and sound equipment, using a digital mixing board, using video cameras and streaming a live service

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Pastor of Worship Arts will:

o Plan the corporate worship services of GMB in consultation with the Lead Pastor and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness

o Ensure that all the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day

o Oversee the spiritual development of the congregation through music, media and the arts in dialogue with the Lead Pastor with the desire to have a congregation of active participants

o Develop spiritually mature leaders of worship teams through times of training, planning, music selection and personal interaction

o Create an environment that encourages, nurtures, and supports the development of new and existing worship team members and the musical and artistic gifts God has given them

o Work in conjunction with the Technicians Ministry Team to train and develop media and sound technicians who have a heart for serving Jesus Christ through their ministry

o Lead the congregation in worship an average of twice a month

o Oversee the planning of special services like Easter and Christmas

o Send out set lists, song keys, etc. for the upcoming service in a timely manner so team members can prepare and meditate on the songs before the Wednesday evening practice o Serve as the chairperson of the Worship Arts Ministry Team

o Communicate with the Decorating Ministry Team (i.e., informing them of what is happening with themes etc. at church)

 

Additional Responsibilities

o To prepare a budget in the spring and write an annual report for the annual meeting

o To carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the Lead Pastor under the advisement of the Board of Directors

o The Pastor of Worship Arts is accountable to the Lead Pastor and the Staff Relations Committee and ultimately to the membership.
